This blog was created so I could showcase my vast collection of Lawrence Welk albums. From vinyl to cassette to cd, I want to show everyone what hard work and determination can yield when searching for out of print material! This blog is meant solely to showcase my collection, and to preserve the images and information on the album covers themselves. Music downloads will not be offered here.

When Dick Dale left Algona, Iowa, they all said, "There goes our best singer!" "Who's
gonna sing at the American Legion picnic; entertain at Junior Women's League dance?"
Dick is gonna leave us; go to Cedar Rapids or Des Moines and get himself lost in the
swirl of the show biz crowd," they cried.
Meanwhile, deep in the heart of Salt Lake City, the "Fastest Fret Fingers West of the
Missouri," (a long title, but true) was strumming his way to bigger and better guitars.
Buddy Merrill was proving he was worth his weight in Fender speakers.
Now, for the first time, these two are on an album together. Buddy, arranging the bright
and colorful settings for Dick Dale's unmistakable, "clear as a bell" voice that has won
him fans from Coast to Coast. Most of the songs on this album, Dick, a regular on the
Lawrence Welk Show, has sung either at the world famous Hollywood Paladium or on the
Saturday night television show.
With this new album, Dick Dale, stands tall, singing his songs, clear eyed in his Brooks
Brothers overalls, just a plain, Chateaubriand eatin', "Country Boy." The Lawrence Welk
Show has been good to him.
He didn't get lost in the swirl of the show biz crowd of Cedar Rapids or Des Moines.
Back in Algona, Iowa, they watch their boy in full color on the ABC TV Network, broadcast from Hollywood...and they marvel!
How was they t'know, Dick Dale was an expert singer.
