This blog was created so I could showcase my vast collection of Lawrence Welk albums. From vinyl to cassette to cd, I want to show everyone what hard work and determination can yield when searching for out of print material! This blog is meant solely to showcase my collection, and to preserve the images and information on the album covers themselves. Music downloads will not be offered here.

Previously Released on Dot Records
Lawrence Welk has been called corny and square by critics for years, but he hasn't let the criticism stop him from playing his kind of music. And, more importantly, the critics haven't stopped Welk's fans from loving him.
The fans know what kind of music they like, and Lawrence Welk knows hot to play it.
Lawrence Welk started pleasing fans in the 1920's in South Dakota when he was a member of "The Biggest Little Band in America," a six man group. The band played one night stands all over the Dakotas, packing them in at dates in Legion halls, and it had its own local radio show.
Lawrence Welk moved to Pittsburgh in 1928 and started playing some of the big ballrooms in the East.
In 1952 he and hs band were hired for six weeks at the Aragon Ballroom in Santa Monica, California. He stayed at the Aragon for nine years, and during that time he began his network television show, made big-selling records, and came to be known and loved all over the country.
His career, one of the "They laughed when I sat down to play" variety, proves that the most important judges of a performer are his audiences. Lawrence Welk many not please critics, but he pleases his fans, and they have faithfully watched his television show, come to see in in personal appearances, and bought his albums.
In this album, Lawrence Welk brings you Hawaii; now one of the 50 states but still an exotic tropical paradise. Hawaii; the land of lagoons and volcanoes, surfers and hula dancers, palm trees and hibiscus has never sounded beteter than with the champagne touch of our musical mainlander - Mr. Lawrnece Welk.
