One of the brightest highlights of Lawrence Welk's popular TV shows is the appearance of the adorable, sweet-voiced Lennon Sisters...four youngsters whose wholesome charm and delightful harmony have made them the darlings of the entertainment world.

The songs in this sparkling new album comprise a wonderful collection of the Lennon Sisters' best songs. It includes favorites such as the lively Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah; the ever popular Allegheny Moon; the inspiring He; and the song the girls made into an extraordinary smash hit, Tonight You Belong To Me.

Of the four, Diane (Dee Dee) is the eldest. Blonde and beauitufl, with a soprano voice to match, Diane is "Big Sisters" to the group. Peggy, who is dark and petite, is a straight-A student, kiddingly known to her sisters as "the brain." Kathy, who assumes the baritone parts in the quartet, is nicknamed "little Barry," by virtue of her rich voice. Janet is the youngest, her sisters' pet, and cute as a button.

The girls, singing since their toddler days with their parents and grandparents in family song-fests, come by their musical talent quite naturally. At home, says Dad Bill Lennon (who doubles as manager, coach and trainer), the girls virtually live with song, accompanying themselves at whatever they do. Mom, Isabelle Lennon, is another natural singer, but is kept quite busy tending to the girls and the Lennons five other children. According to Bill, his girls have "an innate ability to sing on pitch. They have been exposed to only 'true tone,' without flatting or sharping."

The girls first came to the attention of maestro Welk through his son, Larry, Jr., who kept after him until he agreed to audition his son's young friends. They made their debut just two weeks after sweeping the elder Welk right off his feet. Within a month they were "regulars" on the show, and are now one of the most outstanding and nationally admired young singing groups in show business.

  1. My late father wrote the music to "Ricky-Dicky-Doo". I wonder if you know where I can download it from? Thanks

  2. I don't know of anywhere you can download it. There are usually 45's you can buy on Amazon or eBay pretty cheaply. As I remember, it was released as a single.
