This blog was created so I could showcase my vast collection of Lawrence Welk albums. From vinyl to cassette to cd, I want to show everyone what hard work and determination can yield when searching for out of print material! This blog is meant solely to showcase my collection, and to preserve the images and information on the album covers themselves. Music downloads will not be offered here.

The idea for this sparkling new edition of Lawrence Welk at his Hi-Fi best, was born on the evening after Washington's Birthday 1957.
It was the eve of Heart Sunday - a day that would climax the annual February campaign of the American Heart Association. On Heart Sunday more than one million Americans would call on their neighbors for the contributions needed to speed up the fight against the greatest of killers - heart disease.
On this Heart Sunday eve, 20 million or so of the nation's televiewers got the Heart message from Heart Sunday national chairman Lawrence Welk, who devoted his entire program to the drive. Every number on the show was, in fact, a song of the heart.
That fine program suggested a theme for an album which could serve as good-for-dancing, or good-for-listening, Welk-inspired music. And here is that very album as Lawrence Welk salutes the Heart Fund, with his augmented orchestra in a selection of favorite heart songs.
It's only fitting that this should be so. Lawrence Welk's personality, showmanship, music and array of star performers all seem to reach out over America into the homes in every city, town and village. Thus it is too with the American Heart Association, which also touches homes in every community, every year, thru its widespread local affiliates.
This album is being issued on the tenth anniversary of the American Heart Association's birth as the only national voluntary health agency devoted exclusively to combating the heart diseases. With the support of the public, this organization has carried forward a nationwide program that has saved thousands of hearts and lives.
In a word, Heart Fund dollars buy invaluable Heart Research, Heart Education and Heart Services.
Aside from the February Heart Fun campaign, the American Heart Association accepts with gratitude during the year many other gifts from institutions as well as individuals.
One of these contributors, recognized not only as a friently and warmhearted individual, but as quite an American institution as well, is Lawrence Welk, who has already earmarked his royalties from the sale of this album, for the Heart Fund.
There is little to be said about these fine songs, that they cannot better say themselves. They are simply good songs, familiar songs, songs that have a deep connection with the heart.
The tie-in is there for all to see. Your purchase of this glistening package of Hi-Fi sound adds a bit more armor to the fighting strength of the Heart Fund - and adds a generous portion of listening and dancing enjoyment to your own record collection.
